St. Expedite is venerated worldwide, making him quite possibly the most popular of all folk saints. He is at least a contender for that title. But he didn't get there with the help of the Catholic Church. In fact, he got there despite the Catholic Church, which refuses to acknowledge him as a bona fide saint or even as anything real at all. The denial of St. Expedite by the Church is just one of the controversial issues surrounding him. It also helped propel him into the occult and alternative religions, where he is embraced fully.

A lot of people work with St. Expedite. Catholics, mystics, witches, sorcerers, hoodoos, Hindus, and Voudous alike share in their devotion and servitude to this fascinating spirit.
